Can We Talk? training sessions are offered to Livingston County community leaders who are interested in helping parents talk with their children about self-esteem, sexuality, peer pressure and more. The one-day ‘Training of Trainers’ session gives community leaders and organizers the skills and resources they need to promote and facilitate Can We Talk? parent workshops. Workshop modules include: self esteem, puberty and sexuality, mixed messages and peer pressure.
Individuals who receive training will be asked to offer the Can We Talk? workshop to parents in their community. The goals of the program are to increase parent-child communication on topics such as healthy relationships, sexuality, prevention of teen pregnancy, HIV, and other STDs, as well as to increase parents' knowledge and comfort levels in talking about these topics.
