| What is Simple Steps?
It is a physical activity initiative for member worksites of the Genesee Valley Health Partnership. It is designed to be very easy for employees to participate in, and very easy for worksites to implement. We would like employees to look at their current level of activity and set their goals accordingly-goals that are challenging but reasonable. Our goal is for employees to be able to increase or maintain their physical activity level so that they can enjoy the benefits of... |

| 30 Minutes A Day!
The Simple Steps concept is, quite simply, simple!
30 Minutes A Day
10 minutes in the morning
10 minutes at lunch time
10 minutes when you get home
Does this sound like something that you could resolve to do? Absolutely! The Surgeon General’s recommendation is that Americans get 30 minutes of exercise per day, five days per week. This recommendation does state that the activity does not have to be 30 minutes at a time. In Simple Steps, you... |

| Moms in Motion Fall KICKOFF! |
September 17, 2008
Hi, many of you have heard about the awesome organization called Moms In Motion, Inc. with local Teams here in Pittsford, Webster, and Canandaigua, N.Y.. I am hoping you can share this information with others so that they can benefit from our group as well. I hear almost daily how grateful my members are to have found such a wonderful, welcoming group of women and how Moms In Motion has changed their lives!
As many of you know, finding time to exercise can be difficult. Now add being a wife and mother along with career and personal obligations to your life, fitness falls by the wayside. What women need to know is that taking time for themselves to exercise can not only make them more fit, but less stressed at home and more productive in the workplace. It also leads to increased self-confidence, more energy, and happiness. Happy moms make happy families! This Fall will be our 9th Session, with women of different ages, abilities, backgrounds, and fitness levels. It has now grown to over 100 women! We meet every Saturday morning in Pittsford and Webster and now offer Sunday mornings in Canandaigua. We provide a complete package of fitness plans, social events, philanthropic opportunities and health topics within a friendly, supportive, all female environment. We encourage and welcome women of all ages and abilities (including non-moms) to join us so we can support them in achieving their goals. No goal is ever too small or too big! The essence of Moms In Motion emerges naturally as members work together toward a common goal. Camaraderie and team support evolve into deep friendships and healthy lifestyle changes.
In addition, a Healthy Weight Management Support group will be offered to encourage a healthy lifestyle. It would be a great opportunity for someone wanting to lose weight and get fit with a fun, supportive group of women! This Fall we are again offering three locations; Pittsford, Webster, and Canandaigua after a very successful Spring and Summer session expansion. Each location will come together for our culminating races and null events.
This Fall we will be training for the Jingle Bell 5 K to benefit the Arthritis Foundation as well as preparing for the MORE Half and Full Marathon in New York City in early Spring. We have incredible memories of this road trip from the past two years! It's a great girls weekend away!
The Orientation will be held at the Pittsford Library, 24 Main St., at 11 a.m. on October 4, 2008 for all three locations. The first practice will be on October 11, 9 a.m. in Pittsford and Webster, and October 12, 9 a.m. in Canandaigua.
Please check out the web site of the National Moms In Motion founded by Jamie Allison to learn even more about this great program at www.momsinmotion.com. The National null site features testimonials, training logs, an event calendar, team information, as well as a retail store selling exclusive. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss Moms In Motion!
I can be reached by cell phone 749-6400 or e-mail at djiovoli@aol.com I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely, Deb Iovoli, MS, RD, CDN Rochester Moms In Motion Team Leader
