2013-2014 Keeping Youth Healthy Guide.pdf

Keeping Youth Healthy is a database of Livingston County programs targeted at youth in Kindergarten through twelfth grades. This guide provides program information on the following topics: nutrition and physical activity; alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; teen pregnancy prevention, youth development; mental health; and bullying / violence prevention. Training programs for school professionals and community members are also listed. In addition, the risk and protective factors that are addressed by each program are listed in the back of the guide. The Livingston County agencies listed in this resource guide recognize that a combination of positive and diverse learning experiences enhance a child’s ability to make healthy decisions. Our programs are designed to supplement your curriculum regarding various health related issues and can be tailored to your students’ needs. In addition to classroom presentations, all GVHP partners will participate in wellness day activities, panel discussions and after school activities. They are also available to assist with planning special events or projects for national health related observations such as, World AIDS Day, Healthy Heart Month, Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month and Red Ribbon Week.

We encourage you to review the list of programs in order to determine how they may be incorporated into your educational curriculum. To schedule a presentation, or for more information, please call or email the agency contact listed with each program.

Keeping Youth Healthy is published by the Genesee Valley Health Partnership, Livingston County Department of Health, CASA of Livingston County, and Healthy Communities That Care.
