Part of the Communities That Care process is to look at past data that represent indicators of risk factors associated with adolescent problem behaviors. These risk factors fall under four domains: community, family, school and individual/peer. There are multiple indicators for each risk factor. The NYS Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) Prevention Department developed a list of indicators that represent the risk factors. Using the OASAS template, as many risk indicators were collected as possible using various sources. The data collected looked at one or two years as well as State, County and similar comparison counties. The Youth Risk Assessment report consists of quantitative and qualitative data. Data was used from past State and County reports, focus groups and past surveys. While most of the data collected was County-wide some data was based on school districts.
Part 1: Indicator List: lists indicators under each risk factor, identification of those indicators that data was collected and the source of the data.
Part 2: Archival Data Sheets: This is where the data for the indicators is shown, including unit of measure, geographic unit and years of data collection. Where possible data was analyzed according to school district.
Part 3: Archival Data Status Report: Each of the indicators, problem behaviors and past surveys were reviewed in terms of whether they are increasing or decreasing over the years and if they are in better or worse status than the state or similar comparison county(ies).
Part 4: Graphs/Trends: Some of the indicators (where data was available) are graphed to look at trends over five years and compare the County to the State and Genesee County. Related Documents: |
